A Weekend Road Trip in Kos, Greece

I recently embarked on a short but very exciting weekend road trip around the island of Kos. It was my very first time visiting Greece. Armed with a trusty Jeep Wrangler and my usual appetite for discovery, I set out to explore the stunning beaches and hidden gems that this Greek paradise had to offer.

First on my itinerary was a visit to the capital city of Kos. Stepping into the bustling streets, I was instantly captivated by the vibrant atmosphere and the remnants of ancient civilizations. The imposing Castle of the Knights stood proudly, overlooking the harbor, serving as a reminder of the island's storied past.

Wandering through the narrow alleyways, I stumbled upon delightful cafes and traditional tavernas, offering an array of Greek delicacies. From the savory souvlaki (skewers) to the mouthwatering moussaka (eggplant or potato based dish with meat), every bite was a celebration of the rich culinary heritage of Greece. As the sun began to set, I indulged in a leisurely dinner by the harbour, savouring the flavours and enjoying the company of friendly locals.

The real magic of Kos lays in its pristine beaches, each one more breathtaking than the last. I eagerly drove along the coastal roads. Golden sands stretched out before me, kissed by the azure waters of the Aegean Sea. I couldn't resist the temptation of a swim and a boatrip. With the Jeep parked nearby, I relished the freedom to explore the island's hidden coves and secluded spots, far away from the crowds.

Another highlight of my trip was staying at the enchanting Michelangelo Resort and Spa. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this luxurious retreat offered a serene haven to unwind and rejuvenate. The pièce de résistance was undoubtedly the mesmerizing infinity pool, where I spent blissful hours admiring the panoramic views of the sparkling sea, feeling as if I were floating on the edge of the world.

It was a rather short weekend, but already planning to come back to Greece - there's so many islands to choose from and I would also love to see the capital city, Athens. So..until next time :)
